Although these novels have continued to diminish in quality since the first one, there is no denying that these novels are great fun. It helps that I live in Bergen County, just down the road from some of the locations mentioned in this novel.

In this outing, Constance Kopp’s future is on the line as Sheriff Heath is running for congress as he cannot run again for sheriff. The outcome will determine Constance’s future. Along the way, there are jail breaks, trips to the asylum and other adventures.

If you are considering this book, you have to go back and read from the beginning. These books are to be enjoyed and savored.

I didn’t realize the full extent of the complicity of the police and law on restricting women.
This is the fourth Miss Kopp, or Kopp sisters, book. I highly recommend that you read them in order - there is progression and growth in the characters. Great books.
I enjoy the Kopp sister series. Constance always inspires with her can-do attitude. This story finds her causing trouble for herself and her boss simply by caring and being the best at her job.
This book continues the story of the Kopp sisters. The book is well written, like the others in the series and the story is fascinating. It is a feminist story before the dawn of modern feminism.
I thought this was a great addition to the series. I found the plot engaging. The pacing and quick changes between story threads kept me wanting to know what happened next. I also thought the further character development of Constance and her sisters was handled well. Will definitely be recommending.
Characters have very little depth. Very little plot. Almost like reading history textbook. I will skip over this author in the future.
This is the sort of book you can sit up and read all night long, regardless of whether or not you had to get up early the next day. My heart ached for the plight of Mrs. Kayser being trotted off to an asylum. It's obvious that little was known about post-partum depression or menopause in 1916. I kept my fingers crossed that Heath would become a Congressman and the Corter would not become sheriff. The eccentric Norma and her love of pigeons makes me smile, but am glad I don't have to live with her. War is about to break out and I'm eager to know how the Kopp sisters will do their part. I hope there will be a new installment soon. And to think all of this is actually a true story ….
