I loved this book. Such a wonderful and complex story. Yes some of it was predictable and some soooo sad, but oh so wonderful. I loved it. would read it again...
Romantic with a twist of fate in an undying love.
Use of the English words different from American gave extra interest.
I loved this book from the beginning. Montefiore's descriptions of the gardens are perfect and certainly inspirational to get in the dirt and start planting something beautiful! The story line, I thought, was predictable and then it wasn't. I recommend this book to anyone who wants to read something light, beautiful and well-written.
What a fabulous love story that spans time! Beautifully written! So heartwarming, genuine and gracious . I look forward to more of this authors work!
There were some really engaging parts to this story and the end satisfies. There were also some bouncing between two time frames that ran a bit long for me. I am going t try another book by this author.
The start is a little slow and introduces so many characters that it is difficult to keep them straight. After a few chapters, it take off and you can't put it down. It is a beautiful story of true love and the obligations of marriage. The characters are interesting & fully developed. The story jumps between two times periods and at times one has to remember the characters names to know what time period you are reading about. Good book & fast read!
The French Gardener....absolutely loved all of it...all characters were intense, colorful, deep and all worked together to bring closure to one of the most fabulous books that I have ever read.... truly touched my soul..truly touched all of of my senses especially when describing the gardens and the scent of orange blossoms when Ava's essence was present...... highly recommend it....did not want it to end....
